This sentence is said by Setsuko. She told her father that after Ono talked to her Ichiro is a fine boy.She wanted Ichiro shows respect to Oji. Ono has a conversation with Ichiro before, but it seems they always digress. He has different opinion with Ichiro's father. Such as, he wants Ichiro be a fan of Japanese hero not a American cowboy. It connect the later situation, they also have different opinion of the war even Noriko's marriage.

In the dining room, Ono told everybody they will go to watch monster movie tomorrow, but others have another plan they are gonging to deer park. Ono told this sentence to Ichiro, he thought Ichiro like to watch movie with him, but this only Ono his own plan. When he said it, Ichiro didn't say he want to.
slothfulness

It is a part of the warning from a priests. Ono's father emphasized it in the reception room in their old house. When Ono walking into the reception room, he remember his father.Even though the priests said many things about Ono's life, his father still focus on the warning part. However, nobody is perfect, his father worried too much.
