Before I read an article about an Abstract art. I just thought that it is difficult to understand especially why so many people respect kind of these artworks. Although I am still confusing about the abstractness in art or whatever, I agree with their purpose that they wanted to beyond traditional old painting such as using brush, drowning on a canvas, and drowning a object exactly what they saw. With simple concept of abstractness I visited Inventing Abstraction exhibition at the Mo ma. During the visiting, I saw a lot of artists' works and they were closely connected with variety of fields including art, movie, product, architect and politic. Abstract work is not a just strange and something nobody understand.
Artist name : Wyndham Lewis
Title and Date : The painting 'workshop' c. 1914.
My first choice is the painting 'workshop' by Lewis. Its first impression looked like a outside of building on street to me. Dark blue sited on center of the painting looks like the sky. He used brown for main color and drown straight lines. The brown showed me the building constricted with old red bricks and the straight lines explain shape of building and windows.
Artist name : Man Ray
Title and Date : Aerograph. 1919.
My second decision is Aerograph by Man Ray. According to text beside of the painting, he was the first artist who used an air spray for artwork. At that time, the air spray used only for commercial painting. However, he tried new style of art with it. As many abstract artists want, he also wanted to beyond over the traditional old form. To do it, he put a object on canvas and sprayed ink onto the object. By using mark of the object, he created an abstract artwork. Overlapped ink mark on the canvas lets me to imagine dreamlike mude. Variate of light veules and curve lines look like a big city.
Artist name : Gustav Klutsis
Title and Date : Construction. 1921.
Last painting is Construction by Gustav Klutsis. In a big circle on center, a lot of rectangles are located and each of positions of the square figures makes perspective view on canvas. Even though he only used lines and face, his artwork looked like a three dimensional structure.
