At the late night time, Masuji's father called him and let him brought his artworks from his room. Masuji's mother recognized that Masuji has telent about painting and sometimes he drawn it himself. So she told it to his father because past time, some strange priest gave them warning about their son. His father also think that he has telent about painting but he was concerned about the warning. So in this scene, Curious means that his father was not at all happy about his son's ability. Maybe this scene shows us significant reason why Masuji hided his painting into special box and why he became a teacher not a artist.
Weak-willed
'They inhabit a world which gives them every temptation to become weak-willed and depraved.' (46p)
So Masuji's parents were still talking together about his art telent. The reason why his father doesn't prefer him to be a artist is that the priest warned. The priest said. "Masuji was born with a flaw in his nature and it can give effect on him even thought he also has good qualities." His mother think that her son can handle it himself but his father doesn't think so. He think that an artist is symbol of lazy in the world. So he used "Weak-willed" to show his opinion to the others.
